The Story Behind the Design

The limited-edition Olive & Clay Tagine was designed by Tangier-based Palestinian artist (and founder of the Artisan Project) Nina Mohammad and tells two stories at once: Olive honours her grandmother, Fatima, who planted olive trees in their homeland, while Clay speaks to the material used to craft tagines — an ancient cooking tool — in Morocco and countries around the world.

Four panels show tagine pottery: drying on shelves, stacked orange lids, a potter shaping clay, and finished tagines on a tiled floor.
